Ants in Techni-Color

Dr Mohamed Babu a scientist from Mysore, India conduced a photographic experiment on ants using colored sugar drops, after his wife Shameem, showed him that the abdomen color of some ants had turned white after drinking spilt milk in their house.

He placed edible sugar drops in colors of red, green, blue and yellow on a paraffin base in his garden. He then let the ants sip on the liquid globules and photographed them as their semi-transparent stomachs started matching the food they were eating. Some of the ants even wandered from one color to another, creating new color combinations in their bodies.

Dr. Babu got a few hundred ants to participate in this visual arts spectacle and noticed that the ants preferred sipping on lighter colors such as yellow and green as opposed to the dark ones.

Here’s what the experiment looked like.._
