The Instagram Camera

The Socialmatic project aims to create a real life camera out of the popular app Instagram. The idea is to bring both the social aspects of Instagram and its trendy photo filters offline.

The 16 GB Socialmatic camera runs on its own software – the InstaOs 1.0, integrating both facebook and the Instagram App features. The camera allows users to take photos, apply Instagram filters and print them using the Instagram paper sheets that are provided with the camera. There is also an internal printer with four color ink cartridges that allows users to print photos instantly, similar to a Polaroid camera. Each photo also includes the photographer’s Instagram username and a QR code that other Instagram users can scan in order to comment or follow the photographer.

The Socialmatic camera also features dual lens – one for the main capture and one for filters and apps, wifi and bluetooth capability, led flash, optical zoom and a 4:3 touchscreen. Created by the design and communication studio ADR, for now this project only exists as a design concept with 3D renderings. But earlier this week, De Rosa launched a campaign on Indiegogo to raise $50,000 for the Socialmatic. He believes that people will want to buy this camera, as there is no camera in the market right now that allows users to bring the power of social networks to real life._
